Appointment to the Presidency of the General Assembly of the UN

Bahrain's first female diplomat, Haya Rashed Al Khalifa, who was formally elected on 8 June 2006 as the next President of the U.N. General Assembly received accolades from her colleagues at her firm, Haya Rashed Al Khalifa– Attorneys at Law and Legal Consultants.

Head of Litigation and Arbitration Mr Rashid Bo-Ghammar, speaking on her appointment said “We pride ourselves on being her associates. Sheikha Haya has been an inspiration to us all. Her appointment is an endorsement to the ideals she has instilled in her people and her firm. We are confident, she will be climbing higher mountains than this appointment”.

Head of Banking, Corporate and Commercial, Mr Nabeel Saeed of the same firm continued to echo his colleague’s statement and added “Sheikha Haya has been a true role model to the women of Bahrain and her life is a lesson to us all – with foresight, dedication and determination she has won the hearts and minds of not only Bahrain and the region, but the world”.

Sheikha Haya's legal career has spanned more than three decades, focusing on diplomacy, international arbitration and dispute resolution as well as the status of women in the Middle East.
